God’s Grace
Having come to Jesus I stood at the very gate of His grace endeavoring to work my way up the ladder toward the small stream of His wonderful love. I had no idea of the power waiting beyond that gate beca
use I felt that my attempts’ to "climb the ladder" to become worthy of His death were enough for Him and for me. I had no idea that the power that brought about that small stream of grace was quietly waiting for my efforts to stop and my resting to begin. Once I did that, once I stopped working for His approval, God, without a moment’s hesitation, opened the gate of His grace and all my foolish efforts were destroyed. The newness of His overwhelming grace brought with it the very real fear of God. His grace laughed at the opinion of my own sin as it swept away my perceived sinful consequences so fast that I had no time to gather them back up again.
At that very moment, I understood forgiveness. I understood what was accomplished on the cross for me. I began to see God through Jesus in the same way God sees me through His Son.
Through the power of grace we are forgiven completely. Nothing held back. His love overpowers each of us. It is no small stream.
